Dentures

Meet your unique smile needs

Dentures replace natural teeth that have fallen out or have been extracted from the mouth. We design acrylic and plastic or porcelain dentures that are designed to meet your unique smile needs.

Conventional dentures are designed to replace full teeth sets after all the teeth have been lost or removed and the gums have healed. Conventional dentures are custom-fit for comfort and require a dental adhesive.

Immediate dentures are created and placed instantly after tooth extraction. The gums heal under the denture. The patient never has to go a day without teeth, but they should return to the office for adjustments as they heal.

Some Things to Consider

  • Upper dentures are designed with a gum-colored acrylic that fits into the roof of the mouth.

  • Lower dentures are shaped like a horseshoe with space for the tongue.

  • Implant supported dentures anchor to dental implants instead of forming a seal with the mouth.

  • Full dentures replace a full set of upper or lower missing teeth.

  • Partial dentures replace several missing teeth in a row, and clasp to the teeth adjacent to the gap.

Implant supported dentures

If you’re hoping for a secure fit, consider implant supported dentures. Two to six implants may be used to support an entire lower denture. Six dental implants can be used to hold an entire upper denture in place.

Whether you need a few replacement teeth or a full arch, implant supported dentures are a fantastic option. They don’t have to snap onto the surrounding teeth or seal with the gums. Instead, replacement tooth roots hold them and support them.

Patients find that implant supported dentures feel comfortable and natural. They will never shift out of place. We proudly offer dental implants and more restoration options at Wake Forest Family Dentistry.
